The English Regions, in partnership with WWF and the
Environment Agency, have founded SCPnet - the Sustainable
Consumption and Production Network.
SCPnet aims to use data and evidence about consumption and production as the foundation for more sustainable policy and practice in the regions. SCPnet uses regional data on emissions, resources used, waste produced, travel patterns, housing standards and much more to help forecast what will happen to our environment if current economic patterns continue.
The same models that can forecast those effects can also be used to think about what could be done differently - what will be the economic effects if regions take action to reduce the resources they use and the waste they produce. Mass balance and eco-footprinting work are part of what drives the models and analysis.
The SCPnet website can be found at www.scpnet.org.uk
